Listen to this episode:
For this episode of Bitcoin Magazine“Meet The Taco Plebs,” I was joined by Atlas HODL (@AtlasHodl), a sat-stacking scammer and Bitcoin zoomer.
This is my last episode hosting “Meet The Taco Plebs” and I co-hosted it with Casey, who will take over as host of the show. Our colleague Tyler will also host episodes for this podcast, so stay tuned for that!
This interview began with the story of the Atlas Rabbit Hole in early 2020. He found Bitcoin at the start of the pandemic when he couldn’t travel due to restrictions and couldn’t work. He knew he had to make money from this bad situation, turning it into a good situation. So he searched Google for investments, looking for the best and finally found Bitcoin.
Atlas shared the legendary story of last year when many Bitcoiners got together and donated to Atlas in an attempt to make him a full-fledged coin mechanism. After Atlas received many sats, he tweeted and asked people to stop donating because he had enough, but the community didn’t listen. They were determined to make Atlas a full-fledged coin mechanism, and they did. Now Atlas is a strong HODLer and a determined Bitcoiner.
He explained how Bitcoin has changed his life for the better, allowing him to improve his living situation and eat better. It also allowed him to focus on improving himself by reading, working, and learning to code. He sees the opportunity that Bitcoin has given him and takes full advantage of it to become the best person he can be. This is what I admire and that separates Bitcoiners from the rest.
Atlas spoke about Strike and other Layer 2 apps he’s optimistic about and how it can improve the lives of people in his home country of Colombia. We discussed how Bitcoin makes people more peaceful, and the power of a Bitcoin tool, resulting in less violence and more cooperation.
We also discussed Atlas’s future plans and what he has in mind for his foreseeable future. Everything he said made me realize that he has good mental toughness, good conviction and will stop at nothing to get what he wants out of life. This young zoomer is going to do great things in the future, and I couldn’t be more optimistic about him.
Below are some of the more interesting thoughts from Atlas shared during the interview. And don’t forget to check out the full episode for more.
How did you find Bitcoin and fall into the rabbit hole?
Long story short, I just got out of a really low time in my life, wanted to give myself a fresh start, so I started Google researching investments, properties that make an asset valuable, so I realized if I could avoid Colombian inflation, I could accumulate money, but given the amount of money I could do it with in a safe way, the only thing that made sense to me was Bitcoin, and from there I kept learning about it until I became toxic AF.
How has Bitcoin changed your life?
It practically gave me a new life where I didn’t have to be involved in nonsense, and for an ordinary Colombian a year of minimum wage is a considerable sum ($ 2,500), so owning a la whole room and watching it climb from $ 6,200 to $ 62,000 was more than surreal, it was something that allowed me to completely change the course of my life into a safe environment for myself and my family. Now I couldn’t be more optimistic about my future. (I’m in a slow and painful process of learning to code and learning all the math that I don’t know, so that I can find a decent job and leave my country.)
What’s the most amazing thing about Bitcoin for you?
There is something very deep and special about the first asset which is 100% owned by the individual, on a network which is 100% owned by the people.
What are you most looking forward to in the Bitcoin space?
I especially look forward to new applications and Layer 2 technologies that can help people embrace the Bitcoin standard, so that they can empower themselves.
What is your price prediction for the end of 2021 and the end of 2030?
You already know we’re going $ 1 million this cycle, baby. As for 2030? I don’t know, I guess it’s going up forever, $ 20 million doesn’t sound too crazy, right? Ha ha.
